When asked “Do you use cashless payment” to 1,000 men and women in their 20s to 60s, “I am using it” (58.5%) and “I am using it for some items, but not for others“(12%) accounted for a total of 70.5%. So, many people are using it and in fact the usage rate among the older population is particularly high, which might be surprising to some.

When asked for their reasons to use cashless payments, a smooth payment experience ranked first with 75.3%, followed by discounts and points with 58%.

When asking questions about the type of cashless payment currently used, credit cards came out on top with 78.2%, followed by prepaid electronic money with 60.9.

For those who are not using cashless payments, the fear of overspending is the main reason with 33.2%. However, a lack of understanding of how cashless payments work (32.2%) and not seeing the need to go cashless (31.9%) have come in as close second and third.

For those who stopped using cashless payments, 29.1% did not see value in using it, followed by “I could not go completely cashless” and a lack of adoption by the stored frequented.

When asked whether respondents feel the value of money more with cash or cashless, the outcome was very clear with 56.7% on the former, and only 9.1% on the latter.
