Today, the need of the hour is to address the issue of parking.

A great percentage of traffic is due to people searching for parking spots. With an annual addition of about half a lakh cars, apart from two-wheelers, water-tankers, school buses and commercial vehicles, the demand for parking space would only escalate each year.

Only 15% are able to park in 92 pay-and park lots in the city and suburbs. Of which, 47 parking spots are in south Mumbai itself. There are another 150 pay-and-park lots operating around railways. But all of these are still quite inadequate. So traffic police far has

penalized approx. 1.7mn drivers for illegal, disorganized double or angular parking.

What would it be like to have an app that lets you find a parking spot, and to know the restaurants that offer valet parking and host your vacant parking space for others?

Business Goals

ParkIt is what will solve this major issue faced by Mumbaikars and across country. This will be an IoT platform.

ParkIt will be an end to end parking digitization for parking lot vendors and users who find difficulty finding a vacant parking space.

For providers, it will solve their space and operating management system and turn their old & manual process of car parking and payment collection from customer. Providers will be equipped with hardware solution connected to a Raspberry pie device. A car will present a unique barcode on their app to enter into a parking slot. Barricades will react on WiFi signals from the system. The app allows a residential individual to host their vacant parking space by cross verified registration and earn a fair bit.

The commuters will also have an app that helps them locate these parking spaces in and around the desired location. This app will cater to all type of vehicle owners like 4wheeler, 2wheeler, and other commercial vehicles.

The main aim is to engage large number people using this app for parking related problems. User related growth and revenue is what we will be looking for. The revenue generation will be from vendors purchasing our app for their convenience. Number of app users will attract them to list their space in our app. This can be done in Two phases.

Phase 1

Lets say, for start only private parking lot owners will be our target audience in and around Mumbai. Owners will get a dashboard to manage multiple profiles for their attendees in parking lot. They can easily keep a track of car details entering their space. Some highlighted features will be:

I did a few personal interview with my friends and colleagues to know their problems about parking situation in Mumbai. Few prefer taking a cab to anywhere they want to go without any tension of parking but they were more comfortable taking their own personal vehicle. Upon asking ‘How many Pay n Park’ facilities they knew, answer was a limited number which were out of their way to destination. Few pain point to highlight:

Scenario

Neha Kapoor has newly shifted to Mumbai and have rented a apartment in bandra area. She doesn't believes in owning expensive assets in today's time. She had got a parking slot along with the flat. She loves to go out with friends . She does her commute by either public transport or online cabs. She like earn a extra buck apart from her full-time job. For months her parking slot was empty. One fine day she was travelling in a cab and saw the driver using an app to find a parking spot for his lunch time. Out of curiosity she asked the men about that app. After exploring the app she came to know anyone can host their empty parking slot to help reduce traffic during peak hours. She registered herself on that app and applied for becoming a single slot host. Submitted required document and she was on the hosts list.
