Waking Up With The Wrong Hat

Flash Fiction

The 30-day writing thing continues.

“Ready for some coffee?” she asked as I wandered into the kitchen.

I nodded yes and smiled

She had her rise and shine hat on I guess. So bubbly even. I won’t complain though. It’s a lot better than her grumpy hat, or her headache hat. Let’s not even think about her worried about something hat. That one is awful. She had her cheerful hat underneath it all, and that was something I was glad to see.

I tugged at my hat and it felt strange. I thought I had my creative hat on. I was planning on some writing so it would be a good one to have on. I asked her about my hard-working focused person hat, but she had thrown it into the laundry, and it won’t be out until tonight.

“You will just have to make do with that perseverance hat that’s on your desk,” she said.

“Uggg, that one doesn’t fit right. It isn’t comfortable,” I replied.

“Well, what is that hat you have on now?”

“Oh, it’s a strange hat I woke up with. I thought I had replaced it with my creativity hat.”

“No, that’s not it, she said, that’s just a strange hat you woke up with.”
