Focus On Your Goals Not Your Mistakes

The old saying that ‘mistakes are inevitable’ is so true, but I do wonder why we end up beating ourselves at every single mistake we make.

Personally, it’s not so easy for me to overlook mistakes that I make, I always feel like a sort of punishment should follow and so I sit in that mistake and wallow in self-hate and pity.

I believe I’m not alone on this…

But you’d agree with me that beating up yourself never brings any change; it most often adds to you feeling defeated, helpless, and like a total failure.

These feelings never helped me accomplish my set goals; instead of focusing on my goals and not my mistakes, I find myself doing the exact opposite; focusing on my mistakes and not my goals.

Is this you too?

Do you find yourself procrastinating, running from tasks, and neglecting your goals each time you make a mistake?

If yes, then you’re not alone, and until you learn a way to stop dwelling on your mistakes, you will almost always be in a state of frustration and defeat.

Instead of dwelling on my mistakes, I rather did these three things;

As said earlier, mistakes are inevitable, so I prepared myself against any mistakes.

I conditioned my mind that making mistakes is not the end of the fulfillment of my goals.

I rather decided to make them a building block to achieving my goals.

I used to run from correcting my mistakes instead of taking responsibility for them.

Now when I make a mistake, I pick the necessary lessons, do it the right way, and forge ahead.

Hiding from your mistakes instead of taking responsibility will only slow down your growth process because you will keep on repeating that same mistake.

After making a mistake, we are most likely to forget about the set goal in an attempt to not correct our mistakes.

I realized that if I continued that way, I would only end up with a pile of unaccomplished goals.

If you’ve also observed this in your life, make sure to accomplish your goals and do not leave them piling up.

The only real mistakes in life are the mistakes from which we learn nothing.

An Arabian proverb says; if you stop every time a dog barks, you will never reach your destination.

Don’t allow your mistakes to become stumbling blocks on your way to success, instead make them a building block to achieving your goals.
