Throughout the course of the past six weeks I have been out and about observing and absorbing the colours surrounding me. This was in order to create my very own colour wheel- although when initially given the task I didn’t fully comprehend what the outcome would be. I thought that I was just taking pictures of objects and shapes of colour in order to create a wheel, but once I started venturing out the purpose of the task started to make more sense to me. I started to understand how colour can create atmosphere in an object and also how it can emulate an emotion which a person can relate to. As a student of Product Design, this task made me realise what my lecturer always meant when he said that a product should have purpose and also be aesthetically pleasing. It is the design and colour used for the branding of a product which attracts the eye of a consumer. After all the brain connects with colour: it can make a person feel a certain emotion, it can make a person feel educed to buy a product. We see colour everywhere, but how many people realise how often colour allows us to capture the beauty and sheer genius in the world which we live.
