Black Love

What is Love? What is Black Love? Black Love is something very precious. Black Love is a different kind of love, it is not the type of love that you will see everywhere, this love is unconditional. This is a different kind of love because it is love between two African American people. Changing the course of all the stereotypes stacked up against Black Love by letting love reflect your pride, strength, and courage together is a part of Black Love. The connection amongst black people is just in itself special. Black Love is not present as much as it should be because of today’s generation which is very sad because Black Love is something so deep and special. Sticking it out through the tough times and holding the love strong is what makes black love special.

Jada Pinkett and Will Smith for example, a beautiful black couple have been married for 21 strong years. Of course, they probably have had many downs in those 21 years, but the fact that they still have a great career and raised 3 beautiful children together shows a positive impact of Black Love. Black Love is a different type of love and you can see it through this couple. The way they communicate with each other you can not just find in any random couple that love each other. The positive side of Black Love is not all we see but when we do it something very beautiful and precious. Prominent figures like Jada and Will, Barack and Michelle, and Jay-Z and Beyonce reflect Black love and also do the most important job of mirroring to the world what black couples hold most valuable to them which is respect, friendship, kindness, trust, support and strength.

In contrast, even though Black Love is a beautiful thing there can be a negative relationship of something that looks like Black Love. For example, the story of ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman’ it was about a Black couple that they thought would work the woman’s mom set it up, but it was not meant to be. The negative side of Black love is your stereotypical view of what happens in a relationship between two black people.

The strength of love is contagious. Black Love is deeper and more infectious and seeing it inspires other Black people to seek the same kind of love. A hidden power within that can only be formed by persecution, ridicule, segregation, the history the black man and black woman have shared since we arrived in this country. We love hard. We fight hard. Black love is strength.
