The personality characteristics of a group’s membership or the overall general personality orientations of the members of a group heavily influence that group’s ability to solve problems. To a measurable degree the power of a group reflects the power of the personalities of its members.

For within limits, individual differences, that is differences in personality, among the members of a group, society or culture, function together to enhance the group’s survivability and serve to maintain its adaptability.

An effectively functional group must maintain some necessary measure of conformity and unanimity if it is to achieve its goals in a planned and coordinated manner.

The individual is attracted to the group in terms of his and its commonality of interests, values, and goals; the success and status of the group; its exclusivity; its ability to provide him security and anxiety reduction, and to relieve him of his loneliness and alienation among other things.

In sum, the predominant social system and those who define and control it, substantially help to shape the organized personalities of its individual members.

The ruling white male corporate elite utilizes a variety of processes to maintain the sociopolitical-socioeconomic system from from which it derives its status and power.

Political socialization essentially involves the conservative process which facilitates the maintenance of the status quo by inducing people to accept the system under which they exist, to accept the decisions of the powers-that-be without question.

The other-directed African personality has the feeling of being under pressure; always under threat; always under attack. It chronically strives to recover its balance, to protect its ego and self-system from further devaluation and disorganizing assault from others, from aliens, other alienated Africans, Africans alienated from themselves just as he is alienated from himself.

The other-directedness of the modal Afrikan political-economic personality is compatible with White American and European domination of Afrikans because it permits African consciousness and behavior to be manipulated by “others other than themselves,” primarily by White Americans and Europeans.

This means that the true empowerment and liberation of Afrikan peoples can only be achieved in the process of the Afrikan-centered reconstruction of the Afrikan personality by means of the re-education of Afrikan adults, adolescents and children in with Afrikan-centered curricular.

African centered education is rooted in the unique history and evolved culture of African People. It is concerned with origins, current status and future of the African world.

African centered education is committed to correcting the historical distortions born of three millenia of foreign invasion, destruction, enslavement, physical and mental colonialism, cultural disruption, and dependency.

The future of African world must begin with a confirmed sense of African nationality defined within the universe of African spiritual , moral and philosophical traditions and committed to the material and spiritual development and independence of the African world.

Only an unambiguously African centered education can possibly accomplish this goal.

African centered education is to be distinguished from the current educational philosophies being employed in independent African nations and national enclaves in the Americas, Asia, Asia the Pacific, and Europe.
